Chiropractic Manipulative Therapy

This is what you think of when you go to the chiropractor. It is the adjustment of the joints of the body in order to restore range of motion and thus promoting proper biomechanics. Dr. Tribendis has many methods of accomplishing this task. He will chose the one that is right for you and your body.

Active Release Techniques (ART)

Active Release TechniquesART is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system and movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART. Read More about ART.

Mechanical Traction

At North Texas Performance Chiropractic, the table that is often used is referred to as a flexion/distraction table. It allows the doctor to stretch the muscles of the spine while incorporating a mild flexion of the spinal column. This flexion aids in opening the disc spaces reducing pain caused by muscle spasms.

Neuromuscular Reeducation/ Myofascial Therapy

This seems like a mouth full but it is a very simple concept. Here at North Texas Performance Chiropractic, the belief is that once function is restored to the spine more time is needed reeducating the muscular system. Sometimes the joints have been misplaced for so long that the muscles think it's normal. After an adjustment is made the muscles are still confused. The doctor then has to teach them that the joints are, "in fact", in the correct position. This is accomplished through precise stretching, strengthening, and muscle stripping. This also helps break joint adhesions that may have formed due to injury or abnormal joint movement. This speeds the healing process and enables the patient to hold their adjustments more efficiently. This also helps eliminate partial trigger points in spastic muscles.

Massage Therapy

Massage does more than create a pleasant sensation to the skin; it works the soft tissue (the muscles, tendons, and ligaments) to improve muscle tone. Massage stimulates blood circulation and assists the lymphatic system, improving the elimination of waste throughout the body. The combination of regular chiropractic adjustments and massage greatly increases the body’s ability to heal.
